This is a classic let down spot for South Carolina coming off a win over the #3 team in the nation on the road. This Florida team is hungry, coming off a loss they need to get right. Lost in the loss to LSU was the fact that the Gators went shot for shot with the Tigers for most of the game. The final score was not indicative of how close that game was. Kyle Trask was solid, passing for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns. This South Carolina secondary played great against Georgia, very opportunistic with the turnovers, but lets call it for it is, they are not as good as the LSU secondary that Trask just faced. On the other side, just how healthy is GameCocks QB Ryan Hilinski? He left the game vs Georgia and now has to deal with a pass rush that despite being banged up, can still cause lots of problems. South Carolina’s offense has been held to under 300 yards in 3 of their 6 games this year. Make it 4 come Saturday. South Carolina has never defeated Top 10 teams in consecutive games. South Carolina hasn’t won 3 straight SEC games since 2017 and that was the only other time it happened since 2013. There has been talk of a Florida letdown after losing to LSU but, if you look at their schedule, with the BYE next and Georgia after that, the Gators have to feel like if they run the table they have a shot at the playoffs. Florida lost a letdown game last year vs Missouri but that was after their 2ND loss, not their first, and it was after a loss that ended their chances at a playoff shot. Off their first loss last year, they covered the spread by 16 and won by 38. South Carolina has lost to NC by 4 as 12.5 point favorites, Alabama by 24 in a game Tua threw for 444 yards, and Missouri blew them out. I’ll take my chances in Florida not having any letdown here, this game has Florida double digit win written all over it. Give me the Gators.
