The Warriors had a pathetic loss in Game 4 but you can likely chalk that up to some complacency with them having a 3-0 lead. I expect the Warriors to bounce back at home after the double digit loss. Kerr has already taken ownership and said that he “should’ve prepared guys better for Game 4” and Klay is talking about “responding like champions.”
Klay shot 4-16 from the field in Game 4 and it’s likely he plays strong tonight. Andre Igoudala had just 4 points and he should play better as well. The Spurs needed a 54% shooting game from 3 and Manu Ginobilli to turn back the clock in order to win and they just don’t have that type of scoring on the road – Parker, Gasol, Ginobilli and Ryan Anderson are the 4 bench guys for San Antonio and the team doesn’t have enough scoring if the Warriors are shooting well. That’s why they’ve lost by 21, 15 and 13 in the 3 games the Warriors were focused.
The Spurs can only hang by overachieving on defense and it’s going to be hard to keep Golden State modest for 48 minutes. Shaun Livingston, David West , Quinn Cook, and Andre Igoudala are the keys tonight to a Warriors cover because when they move the ball and play aggressive, it opens up shots for Klay. At home I like their chances. Kevin Durant is scoring no matter who is guarding him.
Before Sunday’s Game 4 in San Antonio, I felt that the game would either be a Warriors blowout or a Spurs outright win, depending on how hard Golden State played. I didn’t think that a close Warriors win was likely. I feel the same about tonight but just expect a much more dialed in Warriors team. Better defense, more ball movement, and doing what they’re supposed to do to beat a weaker Spurs team.
Spurs are 0-10 SU and 1-9 ATS their last 10 road games and lost 5 of those 10 by more than 11 points. I’ll bet on the Warriors to go on a run at some point in the 2nd half and for them to play well enough to cover this pricey number. 82% of the public agrees w/ me as well as 93% of the cash – I’m guessing a lot of people on the East Coast will struggle to wake up for work tomorrow with the 10:30 PM start tonight.
