Updated 10:05 AM ET Friday – Winner last night on San Diego & Under in a 3 unit teaser play.

A few quick hitters for Thursday Night Football:

1. Excluding last week’s loss to Atlanta (23 points) the Broncos defense has given up 20 points or less in 12 of their last 14 games.

2. Denver has won 5 straight over the Chargers by margins of 7, 14, 12, 14, and 17. Granted those games were with Peyton Manning but not much has changed with the Broncos’ defense since.

3. For as dominant as Denver has been over San Diego, the Chargers covered in Denver last year in Week 17 as 10 point underdogs. San Diego was winning 20-17 in the 4th before losing 27-20.

4. Denver has won 16 straight road division games.

What matters most….

Kubiak didn’t travel with the Broncos. Broncos will have an interim coach for tonight and, on a short week, the players have said that it’s definitely been an adjustment. However, the staff and players are both experienced so typically I’d say this is a problem but I think a Super Bowl group can rise up .

Chargers are officially out their #1 & #2 CBs for this game – Jason Varrett is done for the year. Brandon Flowers is OUT. Starting Safety Jahleel Addae is also OUT and hasn’t played the last 3 weeks. I expected #2 WRS to start torching the Chargers but that hasn’t been the case – they held Michael Crabtree to just 47 yards on 3 catches last week and not one Saints WR topped 44 yards in Week 4 vs them. I don’t know how they’re doing it but they’re patching up their holes in the secondary versus VERY good passing teams. Casey Hayward has been huge at CB.

Joey Bosa played last week and showed he’s a beast – 2 sacks. Denver had problems with Atlanta’s O-line but a lot of that was bc starting T Donald Stephenson was OUT. The run game also suffered too bc blocking TE Virgil Green has been out. Both of those guys are playing tonight and San Diego’s defensive line all of a sudden can start to be the most important part of this team
