I had the Texans +7 last Monday vs the Saints but I’m fading them in this spot – Watson got sacked 6 times in that game and the Jaguars have the front 7 to take advantage of that. Jacksonville is not as bad as they looked vs Kansas City – Nick Foles got hurt on the 2nd drive, Myles Jack got ejected early, and then the game went off the rails and Pat Mahomes is the worst QB to face when your team is distracted. I think this is a good spot for Jacksonville to bounce back on defense and I still think they’re a top 7 or top 5 defense in the league. Gardner Minshew can compete in the NFL – he was recruited by Nick Saban to play for Alabama but would’ve been the backup to Jalen Hurts so he opted to play for Mike Leach at Washington State. He threw for over 4700 yards last year, 38 TDs/9 INTs and then came into the game vs Kansas City and completed 22 of his 25 passes. Granted, Kansas City’s defense was playing conservative with the lead, but that should help give Minshew some confidence coming into today especially against a Texans defense that had no pass rush against the Saints Monday night and got shredded by Drew Brees in the second half. Houston needed Watson to be a hero last week to keep that game close and I don’t think he can do that against Jacksonville’s defense, especially with how well they know him in the division. This is a pretty good spot for the Jags to bounce back and keep this game close. Jags plus the points.
