Time for Monday night. Sunday was fun as hell but it’s over. You bet your you-know-what I was celebrating my tail off last night after a big winning day but that success is over and done with. Time for new success and it starts tonight.
One thing you will learn in this industry of NFL handicapping is that you better not celebrate your wins for too long otherwise you can miss out on the next opportunity to win. Let’s get after it again tonight on this Jets-Colts Monday Night Football game.
  • NYJ +6.5 @ IND

I don’t know why the Colts are 6.5 point favorites tonight. They have an offensive line that got destroyed by Buffalo last week and they’re playing one of the best front 7s in the league tonight. This is a physical Jets team coached by one of the most brilliant minds in the game, Todd Bowles. This isn’t “the same old Jets.” No. This isn’t Rex Ryan’s Jets. It’s not Eric Mangini’s Jets. It’s Todd Bowles’ Jets and you will see why this man is one of the best coaches in the league. The Jets D should be able to get to Andrew Luck with a lot of pressure tonight, especially with the situation the Colts are in on offense – TY Hilton is playing banged up, Andre Johnson looked slow last week, and Andrew Luck was scrambling to find a reliable receiver last week only to come up empty. I don’t think the Colts are ready to be a good team right now. Later in the season as they gel, yes. But not now. They’re going to have to beat Darrelle Revis + some of the best defensive players in the league tonight to prove me wrong.

The Jets are a physical ballclub, even on offense. They should really be able to hit the ground running hard with Chris Ivory. The Colts’ secondary is banged up and it should make for a solid night for Eric Decker because the Colts will be very preoccupied with Brandon Marshall and Chris Ivory out of the backfield. Ryan Fitzpatrick was very solid on the road last year and his experience combined with the toughness of Marshall + the Jets D has me really feeling that they’re ready as a team for this Monday Night stage.

I know the Colts are home and are trying to avoid going 0-2 but the media has blown that up a bit too much – hell, they were in the same exact scenario last year and lost in Week 2 to the Eagles AT HOME, ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, and went 0-2.

I’ll say this – don’t be foolish and get in over your head after Sunday’s wins (if you’re picking up what I’m putting down). However, look for the Jets to keep this game competitive, most likely have a lead along the way, and be right there at the end to challenge the Colts for a W.

Jets +6.5, 5 units

Bonus tip: Jets Coach Todd Bowles used to coach with Bruce Arians in Arizona. Prior to that, Bruce Arians coached Andrew Luck and the Colts for a year. Todd Bowles has scouting reports & information on Andrew Luck and the Colts that will give the Jets one of the sharpest gameplans they’ll have all season (which he’ll thank Arians for tomorrow).

For all who have been following me since Week 1 and will get this joke – “Sorry, Milton.”
