Here’s what I said about Washington +3 over the Eagles last Saturday night for 5 units:

Love the direction the Redskins are heading in. Kirk Cousins is playing the best football of his career as he’s on a 13:3 TD:INT run and the Redskins are flat out the better team than the Eagles.

Let’s break the Eagles down lately:

They had an awful season all-around that seemed to be resurrected when the beat the Patriots…only problem was that was a fluke win where they needed 3 flukey special teams plays to beat the Pats. They followed that up win a close win over the Bills who have been struggling bad lately (and the Redskins blew out last week). Then they face an elite Cardinals team at home in prime-time and show their true colors and get blown out.

The Redskins should have all the confidence in the world coming into this game – they’ve beaten the Eagles three times in a row, their passing game is on fire right now (TE Jordan Reed has 16 catches on 16 targets his last 2 games), and the Eagles are banged up in the secondary. Throw in to the mix that Desean Jackson has a vendetta against the Eagles for releasing him (he caught over 200 yards vs the Eagles in a recent matchup) and the night looks like a tough matchup for the Eagles on defense.

The big knock on the Skins have been that they can’t win on the road, but two weeks ago they grinded out a win in Chicago and got that monkey off their back. The Redskins seem like a team figuring things out on offense at the right time and I don’t see how the Eagles can slow them down. I see a road win for the Skins and I’ll say thank you for the 3 points. Skins +3 for 5 units.

Here’s what I said in Week 15 when I took the Skins  +3 over Buffalo for 4 units

  1. WASHINGTON +3  –  4 units: Buffalo has their top cornerback Stephon Gilmore out for this game and the Redskins thrive at home – Kirk Cousins has an 11:0 TD:INT ratio at home his last 6 games and overall the Skins are 5-2 at home. Jay Gruden should let Cousins air the ball out as he will have mismatches with Desean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, and Jordan Reed in the secondary. Jordan Reed is coming off a game where he caught 9 out of 9 targets for 120 yards…Cousins knows how to find his main targets. The Bills are coming off an emotional loss to the Eagles (which we won on the Eagles last week) that finds them having slim chances to make the playoffs now. LeSean McCoy was very sour after that game and Rex Ryan got in front of the team and admitted that he as a head coach “is the team’s weakness.” Rex knows he’s underperformed as a coach – the Bills are 6-7 and their pass rush has less than 1/3 of the sacks that they had last year. Mario Williams has chemistry issues with Rex Ryan and I’ve got to imagine LeSean McCoy and the team felt very down this week at practice after losing a big game last week and seeing that they have very little chance at a Wild Card now. The Skins, on the other hand, still have the NFC East in reach. Let’s go Skins.
