A bunch of quick-hitting box score notes from Sunday’s games:
Deshaun Watson had 5.5 yards/attempt (16/29, 159 yards) yesterday on 29 throws vs the Jaguars after torching the Saints defense. Jags defense is still legit, Ramsey just has to avoid going off the rails and causing problems w Marrone.
–
Gardner Minshew had 56 rushing yards yesterday. 213 yards passing, 1 TD/0 INT. He didn’t do much early in the game but then looked really good in the 4th quarter and played smart driving the ball down the field and pulling the Jags within 1. Would’ve been the game tying touchdown if Marrone didn’t go for two. Minshew’s only big mistake was a strip sack fumble deep in his territory, but no INTs.
–
Ramsey held D Hop to 40 yards.
–
Ravens gave up 349 passing yards to Kyler Murray. If Ravens are going to be banged up in the secondary you can’t just auto assume that their defense is good just because they’re the Baltimore Ravens. Chiefs are laying 6.5 vs them next week in KC and that’s short if Baltimore is still banged up in the secondary
–
Bengals, not surprisingly, aren’t as good as they showed in Week 1. Blown out by 24 by the 49ers, who were on back-to-back road games. Gave up 259 yards on the ground yesterday.
–
Bengals ran for 23 yards on 17 carries with Mixon and Gio.
–
Jimmy G had 297 yards, 3 TD/1 INT and 11.9 yards/attempt yesterday. I think it’s time for anyone who has been referencing Jimmy G’s struggles in the preseason to ease up on that take.
–
Kirk Cousins: 14/32 yesterday 1 TD/2 INT with a QBR of 4.0. Packers defense is legit.
–
Eli Manning 37.8 QBR, 1 Td/2 ints. He’s done. Has to sit.
–
Josh Allen 8.4 yards/ attempt yesterday, 1 TD and no turnovers for him. Solid game.
–
Mariota 5.5 yards/attempt vs the Colts. 154 yards on 28 attempts. 4 sacks. QBR of 37.1. He’s on the road Thursday night vs Jacksonville and his road numbers are historically a pretty significant dropoff from his home numbers.
–
Brissett 5.2 yards/attempt vs the Titans, 29.1 QBR. Solid defensive game on both sides for TEN and IND.
–
Dak: 26/30, 9.0 yards/attempt, 269 yards 3 TD/1 INT vs a Washington defense that’s pretty solid and knows him well. Kellen Moore’s offense is clicking.
–
Trubisky continues to be bad on the road – 4.4 yards/attempt , 120 yards
–
Flacco 5.8 yards/attempt and I’ve counted 3 or 4 passes between last Monday and yesterday where he had an easy 3-5 yard pass, threw behind his receiver/RB, and cost the team yards by not letting the guy run out in stride. Horrendous pick in the redzone yesterday late yesterday.
–
Rams/Saints was a 9 point first half. Rams played a 16 point first half vs Carolina too.
–
Ryan Fitzpatrick 3.1 QBR lol
